Welcome to Chrysalis, where you are invited to see the world with a new set of eyes. This year’s Phantasm portal takes us into a metamorphic realm through the perspective of tiny winged things, where mushrooms and flowers tower above you and caterpillars munch along at eye level.

Location, Shuttles & Parking

Fall Phantasm located at Lakenenland Sculpture Park on HWY M-28 east of Marquette, MI. On the day of the festival, FREE PUBLIC PARKING IS NOT AVAILABLE ON SITE. Any vehicle with a handicap plate or tag can park onsite for free. We will have free shuttles running from Ojibwa Casino from 2:45-Midnight. Leashed dogs are welcome at Lakenenland as well as on the shuttles.

About the Fall Phantasm

The Fall Phantasm is a performing arts & creative festival in the northern reaches of Michigan, filled with magic and whimsy. This event is free to the public, and is put on by the local non-profit Marquette Fringe in collaboration with an incredible group of volunteers and creatives. 

Attendees can expect to see live music, theater, and dance, and immerse themselves in interactive experiences & activities, and visit a themed market as they explore the realm of the chrysalis. All are encouraged to dress up and become a part of the festival atmosphere, and bring their own creative flair to share with our community.

The Fall Phantasm is free for all attendees, but your donations help us make this event accessible for everyone. Frequently Asked Questions

A: No! The Fall Phantasm is a free event. However, we are a donation-based non-profit, so if you’d like to contribute towards paying our performers and making this event happen, please consider donating here. Certain amenities, like onsite parking, camping, and VIP passes are not free.

A: The Phantasm is a creative outdoors festival at the intersection of a Renaissance fair, a fringe theater festival, and a fantasy-themed gathering. Expect amazing costumes, creative art installations, live music, performances, food, fire, laughter, and fun!

A: Yes! This event is a magical experience for all ages, with plenty of entertainment for all ages. Children and adults alike can enjoy the magic of the Phantasm through activities, interactive artworks, and immersive actors. Between dazzling performances, families can grab a bite to eat or explore the wares for sale by the other vendors.

While encouraging a family-friendly atmosphere, we are also dedicated to free expression for all, so you may find fantastical creatures, beings from other planets, or other unknown things that may require explanation for younger minds. The evening will conclude with a drag show by Superior Expressions – parental advisory suggested.

A: This is an outdoor rain-or-shine event, so bring whatever you need to be comfortable. Dressing in layers is recommended, and keep an eye out for the weather to plan accordingly. 

Some folks come in full costume, and we love seeing what characters emerge beyond the veil.

Running water is not available onsite and we recommend a personal drinking water supply. Cash is the suggested payment method for vendors, and will be helpful later on to tip drag performers.

All attendees will arrive via shuttle (with the exception of handicap parking and those with VIP or Camping Passes), so be prepared to pack your belongings into a basket, bag of holding, or pouch for the ride.

Lakenenland Sculpture Park is a private, outdoor, remote venue filled with incredible sculptures by Tom Lakenen. 

Cell signal is limited. Portajohns and wash stations will be available. There is no running water onsite. Expect uneven ground. 

There is no public onsite parking (use the shuttle system from Ojibwa Casino), but handicapped spots will be accessible. The main festival grounds are accessible by wheelchair, or electric scooter.

A: Fall Phantasm is a rain, snow, or shine event. Organizers reserve the right to adjust, move, or cancel certain acts, vendors, or other festival elements on the basis of weather. If there is dangerous weather, we will move the festival to the following day, Sunday, October 5th. If dangerous conditions proceed through Sunday, we will cancel the event. Any changes or cancellations will be announced through our official online platforms and participants will be contacted by event organizers. Unless communicated through those official channels, no changes have been made.

A: Furry friends are welcome, but must be leashed at all times. Dogs are allowed on the shuttles.

A: No. All attendees must park at Ojibwa Casino unless you have a handicap pass, VIP pass, are a vendor, performer, volunteer, or are camping. Free shuttles will be running from the Casino to Lakenenland from 2:45-11:30pm.

A: Using the Phantasm shuttles is easy and free! Follow the signs to park in the designated area at Ojibwa Casino. We have two shuttles that will be running continuously before, during, and after the event. Check back for exact run times. It is about a 7 minute shuttle ride between locations. Dogs, luggage, and strollers are welcomed on the shuttle.

A: Yes! We will have food trucks on site, but you are also welcome to bring your own food & drink.

A: Yes! Check back in July for camping options and details.

A. There will be two large firepits tended to by event personnel. No other campfires are allowed. The Lucid Fyre Bellators will be doing a fire performance in the evening. Anyone who is interested in spinning fire during the event must contact the Bellators prior to the event to adhere with safety guidelines. lucidfyrebellators@gmail.com

We always need volunteers for setup, teardown, and during the event. Event Week Volunteer Applications will be open August 31st, please fill out your available timing and places you’d like to help out.

A: First and foremost, you get to join the team and help make something incredible happen for our community. It is an awesome way to meet amazing & creative people and become a part of the Fringe community. Volunteers will receive backstage access, free onsite overnight parking, and food.

A: We are always happy to welcome new ideas and forms of collaboration! The format has been created based on what collaborations have come so far, but there’s always room for expansion. Send us an email at phantasm@marquettefringe.org with your ideas or inquiries.

A: The Fall Phantasm is built on the work, passion, time, dime, and efforts of a large community network, and growing that web is vital. There is always (365 days a year) something an individual can do to make that network stronger. Bring a friend along to volunteer for setup or teardown, send our Crowdfunder to your generous family members, share our posts on social media, and attend our fundraising events throughout the year. Bring a meal, coffee, or an encouraging word to an organizer around event time and become a personal hero. Most importantly, show up, create, enjoy, express, connect, and use the platform of the Fall Phantasm to be your Fringey self.
